ok so after a year of battling turbo failures due to oil starvation doing everything under the sun to prevent it nobody not one person said that acl RACE bearings have loose tolerances
:angry fire: i have been running the wrong oil for it (too light) ive been running 10-30-15-40 i assumed they were the same as factory but with better coatings
i have good oil pressure cold and when i get to about almost warm it falls off and then drops to almost nothing like 5 psi at 1000 and now i have to drive it back to Mn FROM cali that way no way to fix it till i get there so im going to run strait 50w and hope to god i make it home even at 70- 80 i get only 50 psi with out balance shafts make so much sense now I get oil pressure but not enough where it counts that would explain a few things like dropping a valve all that heat and no oil keeper expands gets weak and lets go
when i first built this engine it had low oil pressure even i could not even figure it out so far i have replaced the oil pump 3X even with a high vol ,front cover, 2 different ofh and to now find out that this is what it is .
time for a new crank rod and main bearings ... the way i drove it every day was beating the piss out of it like i spent my money on it to
got some nice scoring on my cyl walls last time i had the head off ?
just aruhhhhha makes alot of sense i didn't get a crank that was all new like acl said you should have ,would make tolerances tighter
from all the threads i have read your suppose to run w30 or w40 or 50w straight with these cause the engine is dealing with more stress than what the factory intended to run .
now my plan run Valvoline 50wt vr1 racing oil and a qt of lucas
with turbo #6 hx35 @6 psi for the way home
engine has now about 8,000 mi on it since it was done oil changed alot due to turbo failures i think i did about 15 oil changes with filter
so i learned my lesson don't build a dd with race bearings and use wrong oil
