That's what I suspect was happening in my case. When I would operate the throttle by hand you could hear almost a rattle-snake-like scuffing of air hitting the compressor blades after you would close the TBV. It was most certainly coming from the turbo, and not the BOV (yet the valve was opening a certain amount even under 1 psi). Before I upgraded, I was consistently hitting greater than 270 KPA with my 14b (about 25 psi at our altitude) Uncrushed my stock BOV was leaking by 18psi so there was a need in my case for crushing.
