Re: The Great Autocross Mega Thread!
well, that will take me out of the stock class I assume. I want to stay in it, especially since this is my first year. I'll be doing any allowed modifications though.

Re: The Great Autocross Mega Thread!
That's the beauty of MAC. If you want to run in a less competitive class, there's SI (Special Interest), which is a novice class that you can run until you win it, no matter what your setup is.
As for modifications in stock class, the only allowed mods are switching between factory options in the car's trim levels... So for us, pretty much nothing. The only real beneficial thing we can do is an A/C delete.

Re: The Great Autocross Mega Thread!
According to SCCA rules, you can have catback exhausts as long as they aren't too loud. I have just an axleback. I also have slotted rotors, I know those are going to have to go. Otherwise, my car is stock.
Besides that, I'm using this as an excuse to not dump tons of money into this car Just gonna keep it as stock and reliable/cheap as possible,

If I don't get my rear main seal replaced by then, I'll likely be fielding the Stang for the first time ever.

Re: The Great Autocross Mega Thread!
I might have to check out that SI class.
Is that class very competetive? I don't think the Galant would do that great the first 2 or 12 times out.

Re: The Great Autocross Mega Thread!
SI is a catch-all class for novices. Any car is allowed to compete in it, but once a driver wins the class he is kicked out for life. SI is more about having fun, learning the sport, learning your car, and becoming a better driver than actual competition. Once you win though, you do get "the talk" from Phil...or Matt D. in my case since Phil was cranky that day.

Screw having fun I wanna win!
What kind of cars do you usually see in SI? Are many of them crazy modded with Rspec rubber and what not?

The majority of SI cars are your typical street-prepped daily-driver cars. There were a few Evo's in it last year which was fun. If a driver is good enough to handle a fully prepped car with R-compound rubber he's good enough to have already gotten kicked out of SI
I'm trying to think who on this board has won SI; Matt D. and I both have, Spaz is working on it, Zac will probably try this season, and Ryan skipped SI and went straight to SM-T (will be running SM this year along with me). I'm sure there are more that I'm forgetting. I don't remember if Andres or Brandon competed in SI or not.

Re: The Great Autocross Mega Thread!
If I get a car that can actually go around corners this year I might give it a try.

Re: The Great Autocross Mega Thread!
I'm going to compete in SI because there is no way I can compete in the SM class where my car should be given it's mods.
