Re: My Winter Upgrades
How did they get at your car was asked earlier, I was wondering that too? Did you leave your garage door open? Or did they get in your house and go into the garage? That still sucks though, makes you feel violated; and yeah I agree it could have been alot worse if they were "car" thieves.

Re: My Winter Upgrades
Garage was open when my roommate went to work in the morning. Whether that be they found a way to open it, or somehow we left it open all night, we're not sure.

Re: My Winter Upgrades
Good to look on the bright side. Be glad it's not a honda, or the whole damn car would be gone. Did that computer have any of your personal info or financial info on it? If so, you might consider talking to the bank or what have you.
You also might consider an alarm system that monitors the house and garage, or if you have one for the house, add some sensors to the garage. My folks' house has an alarm system and when a door or window isn't closed it doesn't arm, so you are always sure that it's closed up at night or when you are gone during the day.

Re: My Winter Upgrades
That sucks Brandon! Sorry to hear, but at least they didn't take the car(considering they had a key!). Speaking of that, you left a key for your car in your car?!?!

Re: My Winter Upgrades
I am really bad at losing keys. I misplace them all the time. So with the Talon, since it's always in the garage (garage is supposed to be closed), I leave the key in it so I don't misplace it. Crazy, maybe. But it's supposed to be what I consider pretty secure in the garage (again garage is supposed to be closed), and then my Daily is parked in the driveway in the spot behind it. So I consider it to typically be pretty secure as far as someone just starting it up and driving it away. I guess overall I'm a fairly trusting individual, maybe to a fault sometimes.
Anyhow, better believe that the keys aren't going to be left in that car anymore.

Yup that is the plan! Something I'm going to go shopping around for this weekend. But it'll be in the house, I'm not keeping it in the garage as that would be no better then leaving it in the Talon.

Re: My Winter Upgrades
Well looks like I fouled out another set of plugs, it's missfiring again. I really need to get some sort of ignition amp soon.
On a good note, even with the occasional missfiring, I got my first bike kill today which gave me a big Not sure exactly what it was, but I think it was a Buell because it looked somewhat like a crotch rocket but not totally, and had a little deeper sound. That was the highlight of my night!!!

Re: My Winter Upgrades
Ha, we will see. But I'm still pretty new to it all, so who knows what I'll run.
Anyhow, the other day the car sounded a bit louder. So I popped the hood to have a look, and there's the turbo, crooked, hanging on by 1 bolt... I'm getting sick of these suckers backing out. In a couple weeks I'm going to take the head off to get it rechecked out by a better shop, and replace the headgasket. At that time, I'm going to drill the 4 bolts holding the turbo on, for safety wire, and that should hopefully be the end of that issue.
Also, just picked up a used (but never actually been used) Arc-2 ignition system off the Link forums for a pretty decent price. That'll probably go on around the same time I'm doing the head gasket. So hopefully that'll be the end of that issue.

Re: My Winter Upgrades
Well as seen in my other thread, she's down for a little bit due to a shifting error on my part. While this is going on, I will also be installing my new Arc-2 setup. I will also be installing the new lifters I got as well which will hopefully take care of some of the lifter tick I was experiencing.
One thing that I have been thinking long and hard about, is while all this is apart, possibly removing the AC. I've retained it thus far because I would like to have it. But the car has been running hot for the past couple years, so even though I have it, I've never used it. Even this year I haven't used it yet. I'm about 50/50 on the decision right now...

Re: My Winter Upgrades
Removing it will eliminate a lot of clutter and weight from the engine bay. I regretted removing it on my 1G, but that was my daily-driver; as a 2nd car I'd be more inclined to shed the pounds.

Re: My Winter Upgrades
Assuming you don't drive you're car in the winter.. Just remove it. What else do we have windows for?

Re: My Winter Upgrades
I don't drive it in winter.
I think what I'm going to do is leave it in. And if for the rest of the summer, I get to use it and find the car still wants to run hot, then this winter I'm yanking it
