A lot of the turbos cars I deal will have at least 1 cylinder go into detonation before MBT is reached, so you can't rely on there being any sort of window between max torque and detonation onset, like you can with an NA car.

I agree, its not worth pushing a car to the absolute limit unless its in a very controlled environment with support (aka track car).

Re: Hello
Sounds like quit the shop, the combination of tuning domestics and imports should get you two a lot of buisness. Having a two tuners that have a awesome rep will also draw customers to you all on its own. Welcome to the site.

Re: Hello
Congrates on the place and new job shane. I hope that business and income will be profitable for you. It's good to know that you didn't go anywhere else, and decided to stick with the tuning aspect of things, because I know that's what you love to do. welcome to the site dan. I can't wait to see the new place you have set up here soon..I'll bring the jelly.

Re: Hello
Welcome guys! Shane has been an excellent member of this board, and I think the guys at LSE could use a run for their money. I think a few dual dyno days are in order, and seing as you guys are both going to be up and running soon (with awd dynos, that is), I'd like to spearhead this by offering to put my car on both and see how the numbers stack up.
This is going to be a fun summer!

We are always up for the challenge.
The car should have similar numbers on both dyno's. They are the same brand, they are the same type, they are nearly next door...they should be the same. But I agree that having a comparable car between the both would be nice.
Or are you talking about getting your car tuned at both locations?

I think he is referring to the people tuning them more so than the machine they are on. In my opinion given that they are the same machine basically, I will wager the difference will be whomever can tune cars better will have the better numbers.
Especially with DSMs and some Imports, they aren't the easyest thing to tune by any means.
I know Shane can get every ounce of power out a most cars, its been proven.

Well, we could make it really interresting by having one team tune it on their dyno, keep all equal and drive over to the other dyno, see if the numbers are comparable, and then reset everything, and let that team see if they can get similar numbers (keeping the two tunes secret from the other).
I will volunteer my car for this challenge if everyone is up for it. I have a PLX wideband unit installed already, but I only have an S-AFC right now. I have DSMlink on the mind, and have an ecu socketed and ready to go. So if we were to do this, I'd skip the S-AFC bullshit and see some real tuning action on dsmlink.
Would the various organizations be possibly willing to donate dyno and tuner time? Otherwise I'll throw down for the whole event if everyone is willing. We'll document the whole event with video for those that can't attend, and I'll host the finished product.

Good, now I don't have to keep a secret anymore. Having too many speed shops around is like having too many hookers wanting to ride you tough. (Slightly modified from my favorite quote on NABR.) Congrats boys.

There are already quite a few, well established Chevy and Ford performance shops in the area.

Re: Hello
That is why we haven't done anything about the GM/Chevy tuning stuff. There are already a few good shops in town that do that. We also don't tune carburetors, we are EFI computer guys. We do and will work on Fords because DB Performance is already one of the well established Ford performance shops in town. We had a basic install that we did in an issue of Modified Mustangs a month ago. Dan worked at a Ford dealership before DB Performance turned into his fulltime job a few years ago. We have around $12,000 in just ECU tuning tools and hardware for Ford vehicles. I am adding my import tuning knowledge into the business and will continue to put a lot of my effort into EFI tuning. We have around $10,000 in tuning software and hardware for DSMs, Hondas, Subarus, and Evos. I will also continue to help people pick out the right parts like turbos, tuning systems, intercoolers, injectors, etc to hit their realistic goals. I won't be welding, Dan can do that. I won't be porting Honda heads, DPR can do that. If we want a nice fabbed Honda or DSM exhaust manifold, we will just talk to SLS.

Re: Hello
I just find it crazy that especially in MN where the stangs and DSMs always had a huge rivalry that here is this new shop that specialises in both of them. LOL this could get pretty crazy, or could make a nice peaceful relationship between the car owners. LOL
