PS, A/C, Cruise
If a 1G AWD doesn't have PS, A/C and cruise, how easy / tough is it to put them on?

Re: PS, A/C, Cruise
PS pretty easy unless it has a manual rack conversion. AC you need to run all the lines again, make sure none of them leak, put the condensor back in, hook up all connections. Get a conversion kit and hook up the compessor and belts and then make sure the system doesnt leak... and that would be a bitch of a job.
Cruise is easy, just a cable/box.
PS and Cruise are pretty easy, AC would be a bitch to find all the lines and connections and make them work. I would say its not worth it... especially if your going to add a FMIC which will make your car run hotter and not let you use the ac anyway...

Re: PS, A/C, Cruise
Wouldn't I need a steering wheel assy for the cruise though?
Also, if I dont run the fmic and stick with the smic, can i run the a/c? In this case, with the smic, is it a bolt on setup to set up the a/c again?

Yea that would be no problem.
If the car had Cruise then all you need is the electrical under to hood and the actuator cables, etc.

If the car didnt have cruise, ps and the a/c was removed, can YOU set all 3 up again? What would the cost be like, assuming you had the parts? Let me know.

I have all the brackets/lines for the PS. I converted to a manual rack.
I also have a compressor w/brackets and possibly the lines and condensor. My AWD rolling chassis came with extra stuff.
I don't have a spare cruise control setup but I bet I could find one.
What year is the car?
The cost would be a FMIC.

Re: PS, A/C, Cruise
havent decided yet - definitely 1g awd. Maybe 92 laser/talon? Could be 90/91 too. I know I'm being vague but depending on what is possible, I'll be buying the car.

Re: PS, A/C, Cruise
Just out of curiosity, why do you want to reinstall the PS, A/C, & cruise? All they do is clutter up the engine bay. As soon as I get my ass together I'm going to jerk my Laser's A/C and probably cruise.

Re: PS, A/C, Cruise
I want a car to be a daily driver as well as race on some weekends. A/C PS and cruise - all 3 are important to me.

Who needs that shit. I ripped all that out and threw it away years ago. Manual steering is the bomb.

Re: PS, A/C, Cruise
I like the manual steering setups, the PS racks on these cars just ooze fluid. I need my cruise control to keep from getting tickets on long trips. I DEFINATELY can't live without A/C. In South Texas you will melt to death without A/C. It definately gets priority over cruise control and PS.
I would have to look at a wiring schematic and go trace the wires out in the harness and under the dash to figure out how hard it would be to convert a car over to cruise control when it wasn't factory installed. I think it would be a major PITA though. I guess if I can build my own harness to swap an LT1 into a '67 Camaro and make everything work without buying an aftermarket harness, I can figure out how to swap a cruise control setup in one of these cars. When you're searching for a car, find one that was originally setup for it if that's one of your 'must have' options. A nice car is only $3,000-4,000, depending on what your idea of nice is. I dunno, take a look at my AWD car and see if it's something you would want. I guess for the right price, everything is for sale. Contact me with PM's if you are interested. Don't want to turn your tech post into a For Sale post.
