looking for an upholster.

My buddy wants to get rid of that gross / unpaintable material on the dash of his 1g eclipse. We are looking to find some sort of upholster in house before we go looking else where. He wants to cover it with an aluminum looking fabric. Any takers or advice?

What exactly are you looking for? Are you trying to cover the three main dash panels or the inserts? I can cover your dash with pretty much anything you would want. Where are you located? Perhaps we could meet up and discuss some options.

If you know the interior of a 1g, you should know what surfaces im talking about. ALL of that rubberish material ( right in front of the passenger seat above the glove box for instance) is what we want covered. Im located in savage MN, right next to burnsville, apple valley and prior lake.

Well, since I've owned 3 1g's I do know what the interior is like. But there are a lot of areas you could be looking to cover. That's what I'm trying to figure out. Anyway. I'll have to do some thinking, but I can't see that section you want redone being accomplished very easily. To my knowledge that piece is attached to the dash with adhesive and I don't know that it comes apart. If it does, then you're looking at basically taking the whole dash out to get that piece off. If anyone has more insight to this, let me know.

dull yet metallic silver... lol i dont know. He is painting the ENTIRE dash white and wants aluminum accents throughout the interior. It sounds dumb but i guess it looks ok. We just dont want to cover those goofy peices with white vinyl. Dont tell me you can upholster too eric =)

Yep, if it has anything to do with cars/trucks, I can do it and do it well.Anyway, sounds like a pain in the ass.Unless you can find a thick or foam backed stretchable fabric, I'd rethink that idea.

its not a pain in the ass i dont think. All of the peices are individual and are out of the car. Just needs to be put on and all that. The guy that might do it says it shouldnt be an issue.

I was thinking you were talking about the actual dash.

I've seen his work at Autovations. His work won best interior, best show truck, and best Volkswagen.

Try him.

I'm sure Steve could handle it, and he would probably be alot cheaper.

If you are talking about the clove box material (rubbery foam) it is glued on. The glove box you can take the frame off it to attatch vinyl that way though.

Eric, since you can do anything, why don't you make your 2g fast? When can you build a motor for me?
