timing- does this look right ??

So got my timing all done and it is way easier than i would of expected. But after i turned it over a bunch of times the auto tensioner went out of spec it seems. All timing marks line up perfectly and everything seems perfect except this unless it looks good to go it seems like it should stick put farther to me and from what pics ive looked at otherwise ill redo the tension on it.

Too tight. I would turn the engine over by hand 6 times then wait 10 minutes and recheck it. If it looks just like this then the idler needs to clock to the left a bit.

Re: timing- does this look right ??

You need to set the tension on it manually with the pulley, then you pull the pin on the "tensioner". The name is misleading, the purpose of it is to maintain the tension on the belt, not to provide it. You should be able to spin the motor over, all the way back to TDC again, and then slip the pin back into the tensioner without issue. If so, tension is fine. If you can't, pull the tensioner off, retension, and try again.

And cmspaz thats how it was before i turned it over i could put the pin in and out very smoothly and then i turn it over and it goes tighter like it is.

If you can put the pin back into it. It is right on.

Re: timing- does this look right ??

The purpose of the tensioner is to maintain belt tension. In order to do so the tensioner must have enough travel both ways. The pin hole is the middle of travel. It should settle so that you can put the pin in. So you turn the engine over a few times like normal engine operation and it should center over a short period of time.

If it settles like it is in the picture it is wrong.

I use a .153 drill bit and have it barely fit in position "A"

Here's the page from the FSM:
