need help with the conquest

hey
my brother finaly got his conquest running again after 2 years in the shop getting the engine rebuilt.
My brother is having some problems tuneing the car in right now.
The biggest problem he has right now is he added a T17 turbo i think and he cant find a waste gate to work for it so he is running with little to no boost right now which is fine because he is still breaking in his motor.

He is also still getting some smoke out of the exuast is this because he has no cat and running 2.5 exuast all the way back?.

Basicly he needs someone who knows what they are doing to look at this thing and give him some insight what to do next.

Who is good at workin on these things?

Hai, Fatty or Shotgun are your best bets. I will be able to help in oh say, another month or so. And a T17 sounds small as hell, is that like a 12a's baby brother?

Oh, yeah, it might be helpful if you state what the color of the smoke is.. Blue, black, white, fuscia, neon green.... etc.

And it sounds like his biggest problem, aka the wastegate, is just a matter of reasearch. Does he have an external WG set up? Is the turbo internally wastegated? What exactly is the problem with the wastegate?

Re: need help with the conquest

Well, we may have fixed one problem, but that oil in the exhaust is a bitch. No way to tell where it's coming from without tearing it apart. He might have gotten a bad turbo, that would be the best thing, but it could be a ring problem or something to do with the head. At least it runs. Happy to help.
