Northwest Technical College, Bemidji, MN
Hi guys. I was wondering if anyone heard of this school or know anyone who been there. I just got back from there last night. Look like a great school. I was thinking of going there this fall. They have a high performance class there. Also they have a good automotive program. In their automotive class, you'll learn how to dyno, tune, turbo, NOS, and etc. I met a guy who is from Chicago and he drive a really clean 1g. Here a link below. Please check it out and let me know. Thanks

Re: Northwest Technical College, Bemidji, MN
I went to school there for the auto tech program. I had alot of fun, but didn't learn much, I think it was because the class sizes were just too big to ever get any kind of assistance when needed. I did hear from my roommate who is also in the program that they shrunk the class sizes to try and deal with this problem though. One of the teachers, Mark, is a really nice guy but the other, Danny, is very full of himself and is very rude to most of the students. All in all I guess it was a decent experience for the money spent.

Yeah thats really what they teach, they got a mustang dyno Jan of 08, and started a chassis dyno class where you get to learn how to operate it. Also there is a performance auto class where you get to work with things such as nitrous, turbos, superchargers, etc. And there is a high performance diesel class where you get to make a ton of power from a dodge cummins.

Re: Northwest Technical College, Bemidji, MN
Never heard anything good about UTI. I even asked Paul ( high performance teacher). He said that if you go to UTI, it's a WASTE of your MONEY. There's more information on the site. Call and talk to Mark or Paul. They both can answer more question. YES they teach how to DYNO, TUNE, NOS, TURBO, SUPERCHAGER and etc. Stuff other College don't teach. I already applyed, so i will be there this fall.

Call Paul. His number should be on the page. He can give you more better understanding of what they teach there. I'm pretty sure you'll like it.

Re: Northwest Technical College, Bemidji, MN
I considered going to their Automotive Machining program. And I'm glad I didn't. I heard a lot of bad things about the teacher, he had the nickname, "boom-a-rang" Paul. As in whatever he touched would come right back... And its effing cold up there.
I have an opinion on people going to any automotive school, especially one that claims to cater to aftermarket/tuning, hoping to get some fun performance-place type job. No matter where you go, or what you learn, odds are you're gonna get the same job at tires plus with the guy who never went to school.

+1, I finished the 2 year program with a 4.0gpa and I couldnt find an automotive job to save my life. Funny thing is I work at a machine shop to put me through school, and not the machining program.

What kind of machine shop? Automotive or an actual machine shop, i.e. cnc job shop blah blah.
