#1 journal/ main bearing Question
Well i removed the crank out of my '99 tonight. Every single bearning and crank journal looked great except for #1. It wasn't the whole bearing either. It was just the half that sits in the cradle. The crank has a very slight bump about the same width as the copper colored part you see in the pics. You can't really feel it with your finger tip. You have to use a fingernail. AND... it's not the whole circumference of the crank journal either. It's just the half of the journal where the piston would be at TDC.
Dam... i wasn't really wanting to get this crank turned. I talked to someone tonight about it. They didn't see it in person but they said they sometimes you can clean up a journals with a really fine grade of emery cloth and a rope and spin it in the lathe. If so, I can have my brother do that at the shop.
Let me know what you think. Motor is close to 100k miles.
Thanks.
