Not grabbing gears
The story -
First gear was slipping out very easy for my 1-2 shift. Every other gear seemed fine. I pulled up to a stop light - turned green, tried to shift from 1-2 and nothing. It stayed in 1st gear when I moved the shifter to "2nd"
I can manually put it into any one gear ( i think ?) but I cannot shift it inside the car. I had to put it into 2nd and gimp it home from where I was.
The cables seem fine but I'm going to have a friend stop by to help me spot what the shifter / tranny bracket is doing when I move the parts.
The one bracket on the driver side of the tranny can move back 1 spot, idle in the middle- and move forward one. It doesn't click into anything unless I move the bracket on the passenger side forward one or back one.
WTF does the problem seem to be? The shifter cables and brackets seem to be working.. the cotter pins did not fall out. However the one cable that deals with forward motion ( front to back, not side to side - passenger side bracket on the tranny) Seems to be causing the problem.
I'm looking for ideas to try. Also finding out where to move the shifter brackets for each gear would be nice. I'm not sure how someone could type that information accuratly but if someone found a way, that would be great.
