So for those of you don't know, and I'll make it short and sweet, I was charged for fleeing back in July--hence the username. The chase itself was a total joke... lasted 3/10 of a mile... but in the end, I got the cuffs. Spent 2 days in jail, and until today, was trying to work out everything with the court.

Original charge was: Felony--fleeing. Up to $5000 fine and/or up to 3 years and 1 day in jail, and my car would be forfeited to the state. The state prosecutors this whole time wouldn't budge an inch for plea bargains, that is, until today.

Thanks to an excellent attorney, here's what happened. Pled guilty to the felony, but it was charged as a gross misdimeanor. $1000 in total fines/fees, 5 days of 'sentence to service' (I assume is similar to community service) and I get to keep the Laser. Still not fun, but I consider myself lucky to get off as well as I did.

So what happens now is I'll end up losing my license for a few months and I'm forced to sell the Laser to pay fines. Bye to DSMs! Gotta buy a junker and just try to get back on track.

Well that sucks but at least you don't have the felony. If you don't mind me asking why did it only last 3/10 of a mile? That seems like only a block or two it would take most people that long to slow down.

A few reasons: 1. Heavy traffic, 2. Came to my senses, 3. Got cornered by the squad car.

And I actually do need some sort of car--just to get back and forth from work, as I intend to have a work-related driving permit. Tim, I'll get back to you on that... find me a buyer for the Laser.

Sentence to Serve blows hard. You will have to meet with a work crew at like 7am and work a full 8 doing all the things the gov needs done that no one on the payroll will do. I had to bust out 200 hours in two months 8-9 yyears ago. I ended up in a planned pine forest in snow up to my waste cutting down 40-50 foot trees with hand tool in feb. It was horrible. The only cool thing I got to do was clean the fire trucks in the station. At least it was warm and fire trucks are sweet.

sentance to serve sucks. get ready for five days of hell. i had to do five days last year. just dont forget to bring a good pair of work gloves with you. i didnt my first day and my hands were blistered and bloody at the end of the day. i had to cut down this big ass overgrown garden with weeds taller then me. i could have just used a lawnmower but no, they make you use these hand tools that were out dated a 100 years ago.
