Re: 1992 Eagle Talon TSI Project
Scheides, i got tired of waiting and posted up a WTB on the dsmlink forums. Two people replied, one of them with an insane deal. Got a refund from map (No bad juju with MAP, totally not their fault at all.) 4 slightly used mahle pistons for $165 shipped. Cant beat that.

Re: 1992 Eagle Talon TSI Project
Ok heres an update on the entire project:
Interior:
Full Interior installed, thank you to the guys that gave me great prices on interior peices.
Engine:
- Recieved Pistons from guy on DSMLink forums they were in great shape.
- Found damage on crank and ordered up one from guy on tuners, it came in and looked great no rust no dings everything checked out.
- Pulled motor and put in new main bearings, new rod bearings, loaded up crank and torqued to spec with arp main studs and moly lube. Put in new pistons and sealed up the oil pan, looked at the top and realized that i put the pistons the wrong way. the larger valve divots were on the exhaust side instead of the intake side. Slapped head twice, then pulled oil pan and pistons, turned them around and sealed everything up again.
- Installed head (with intake mani attached) and torqued to 80. Today will torque the rest of the way, just had to clearify what to torque the L19s to. Will be torqueing 110 ft-lbs.
Next to do:
- Finish putting the rest of the items such as water pipe, and various other parts to the block.
- Attach block/head to hoist, and torque bolts on main seal, attach flywheel, clutch, transmission and drop motor in and put in the rest of the shit and call it good.

Re: 1992 Eagle Talon TSI Project
Ill get pics up tonight. Ive decided instead of dropping in the motor today, im going to clean up the engine bay and respray gloss black. I took the firewall material and ill tape off the remaining peices and spray it. I did this with my white 2g (one that ended in fire) and it came out really well. This engine bay has some surface rust here and there so it would be good to clean that up.
I currently have everything i need to finish the car, just a matter of time. Hopefully will be starting her up on Tuesday.
