Re: Why you should think twice before buying HKS products

That's screwed up man. HKS hit a real low and those vendors against MAP are acting really unprofessional from what I'm reading on EvoM. At least act/type professional about the situation than having a cocky 17 yr-old write it. Good thing I haven't bought an over-priced HKS product

It took a bit for me to see it, too.

He signed one of the "Sean@IveyTune" posts as "scorke".

Re: Why you should think twice before buying HKS products

I did some Googling and figured out who scorke is. He's an Ivey employee, named Sam Corke.

Quote:
Do you think an employee of a company would talk higher of the past company they worked with whilst talking with a customer of the current company they work with? Do you know why the people left TopSpeed, do you know if they were fire or if they quit, and if so what for? Not trying to attack but just trying to put it in perspective.

Which techs left TopSpeed for Forged, I know just about all the techs from both shops by name.

I sent my car to Forged Performance for the same reasons you did, word of mouth.... However what happens on the web is that people that sponsor the forums that you read and research these companies have the power ( i.e. vendor fees) to impact what information does and doesn't get to stick on online forums. This being the case you get a very narrow angle view of what actually goes on in the real outside of what you read, and sometimes that view is of a totally different perspective.

Facts I that I know are 100 percent true.
1. During the 9 months that my car was at Forged Performance two mechanics quit.
2. Sharif doesn't even know how to hook up a secondary fuel pump to a standalone ecu.
3. Forged Performance is not aware that a battery ground is not supposed to be attached to the chassis via a ziptie.
4. Sharif will not get on the phone to speak with you after spending 18k dollars on your car if you are unhappy about it.
5. Ryan( Ryan Doi the sales guy at forged) had a shop local to me ( CBRD Speedfactory) build his car and IveyTune (company whom I now work for) tune his car whilst he was an employee at Forged Performance. Now tell me why on earth would an employee of a "Tuning" shop have his personal car worked on at a shop in Pennysylvania and then tuned at a shop in New Jersey when they can do all this work in house? Maybe it's because they cannot do it in house.

It's not that I personally have something against forged performance it's just that I have experienced the shoddy work that they do first hand, and have also heard some of the nightmares of what went on from another member of this forum. How would you feel if you found loose bolts in between your spark-plug cover and head, or motor mount left loose, or grounds improperly connected when your car is returned to you via a trailer from a very well renowned tuning shop?

Now how would you feel if you just dropped near 20k on the service and parts...

Exactly.

Yes, I am rocking an evo.

Not a problem. I don't generally post on the big boards, and being as new as I am to the Evo scene, I'm just happy enough to have as many resources locally as I do. EvoM is a good online resource, but most of the time I find myself picking up the phone or opening an AIM window for answers.

This sounds shady...but to play a bit of devils advocate, when you skirt the rules, sometimes you get burned.

Re: Why you should think twice before buying HKS products

I gotta say I think this is a pretty stupid thing HKS did-- hurts themselves, a vendor, and customers.

Beyond the shady dealings, it's just a stupid business decision. They've sacrificed orders & revenue, forced committed, paying customers to a competitor (FP), not to mention the longer term effects of a tarnished reputation. Kinda sucks since I was really intrigued by that turbo.

I'd say that they don't allow bashing sponsors but truth is that I've seen them close threads that bashed non-sponsors too. They only allow those threads to go if they seem to be leading to solving a problem.

HKS is not a sponsor, and it was a personal review this time around. It was closed because Ivey complained stating it would hurt his sales...

I really don't think it would hurt his sales...that turbo sucks anyway...FP/CBRD stuff is way better for cheaper.

Chris tell your customers FP all the way

It's been showing pretty good power numbers with spool almost identical to a stock IX, if not exactly identical. And it's ball bearing which has numerous benefits.

They have since posted up multiple stock evo 9 turbo dyno charts with as much power or more though...lol. And essentially the same spool.

For the price i would never ever do that turbo.

I agree BB has its benefits, but I would still rather give money to FP for a good product.

Haven't seen those and I don't wanna bicker or take this thread way off-topic, but were the setups apples-to-apples? Not, for example, comparing a stock IX turbo + E85 to the HKS turbo on pump?
