I just spoke to someone in Ohio this morning. She said they had torrential rain for at least 8 hours yesterday alone, and the weather still isn't anything worth writing home about. They had flood warnings out, but the ground was so dry that a lot of it absorbed, so hopefully there's not much run off into the rivers.

Unfortunately it won't work like that for New Orleans. All you have to do is dig a hole in your yard about 1-2 ft deep and you hit the water table.

The more and more I read and see pictures the more and more it just gets me in a state of shock.

We even tried donating tonight via the Red Cross online but the site was too busy to process anything.
