Re: Fejerys 97 GSX

Haven't hardly gotten anything done in the past couple weeks. A truck w/ trailer merged into my parents while they were riding the bike home on the interstate so I've been busy helping them out while they're laid up. They're lucky their injuries were as "minor" as they were and they're recovering quickly.

Basically all I've done painted and mounted the rear subframe, I think it turned out pretty nice.

Also started cleaning out my garage to sell what I don't need. Had a couple parts I had forgotten about.

Just got the brembos a couple days ago. Freshly rebuilt holset wh1c, CompWorks fender braces, FP 4" intake/exhaust manifold, Tial BOV, Synapse Wastegate.

I need to speed shit up and put some of these parts to use!

Re: Fejerys 97 GSX

Thanks man! I really need to get my ass into gear to meet that goal. I'm debating just priming the car and slapping it back together for next season and tackling the paint in the winter of 2013. If I do that and plant another money tree in the back yard, BIR shouldn't be an issue haha.

Re: Fejerys 97 GSX

Your tape note is still on the floor actually haha.

Got a little more done today. Front subframe is painted and ready to be bolted in, just got wait until I'm done painting the bay.

The front radiator support is pretty nasty/rusty on my car so you ran outside the parts car to cut that one off. I'm kinda starting to play with the idea of having this whole piece bolt into place. That way I could yank the radiator, intercooler, and everything off in one piece and then just slide the engine/trans out the front. Would cut the time of just about any major repair in half. So I'll probably mock it up on the parts car and if I like what I see hack into it and make it fit on my car.

Re: Fejerys 97 GSX

It's been over a year since this has been updated. Some things have changed, but honestly the car isn't a whole lot further. Financial burdens prevented me from getting much done for a while, when the money was there it was an issue of no time to work on it, and when I had time/money motivation was the issue. Working on cars 50 hours a week doesn't exactly inspire you to work on your own shit when you get home haha.

What I have gotten done recently....

Painted the engine bay. Used Eastwood 2k Underhood Black. Seems perfect for a track slut. It's extremely chemical resistant, on some test panels I did I poured brake fluid and let it sit and it didn't even touch the stuff.

Picked up a HTA Green instead of the Holset WH1C I was gonna run (still for sale btw )

Tore down the old tired 6 bolt for inspection. She's tired, but she'll do!

Got the head back from the machine shop and threw everything back together .

Dropped the engine into the engine bay. And made the bottom hoop for the tube front. I actually had completed the tube front end last summer, but I hated how it turned out. It was cumbersome and poorly thought out. It's really a shame because I had about 2 million hours into the headlight mounts and getting all the body lines right, but in the end it is what it is. In hindsight doing what Leasure did and left the top in place. Currently I'm waiting on a different die for my bender and then I can start to recreate top piece.

Re: Fejerys 97 GSX

Thanks guys! I'm glad people are interested! PG.1? Maybe...that being said I thought it would be ready for PG.1 last year haha. I'm not really sticking myself on any timeline really, though I did preregister for Powercruise ;-)

Re: Fejerys 97 GSX

Nice, people keep telling me to go to powercruise, but it seems boring with an auto car.

Good luck, maybe PG2?

Powercruise is a whole different style of event than PG. PG is more of an actual competition whereas powercruise tries to keep it like street racing sorta. Its pretty fun just cruising round the track at like 70-80 and some big domestic will just pull up beside you and lays down a 100 foot burnout haha. Its definitely worth going to even if just to spectate.

I've actually always thought it would be a blast in a well setup auto. Not necessarily during the cruise sessions, but during the arm drop 1/8 drag racing. Losers get knocked until there's only 1 winner at the end. A buddy of mine has a newer ralliart with the sst auto and he's was killing it in 2012. That was when he was only running low 13s, but nothing could keep up since he was cutting 1.6 60fts all day long. He finally got knocked out by some 9.9x sec tubbed out domestic. Last year he was running 12.2s but was having all sorts of trans issues and it got rained out for the main event on Sunday. This year he'll be on a built sst and ef3, so he should do pretty well. I honestly think an auto 1g would rape, just so consistent that it's almost impossible to do badly.

Re: Fejerys 97 GSX

Got a little more done over the weekend. All axles are in and suspension is together. Knuckles got powdercoated. Installed the polyurethane bushings and if a poly bushing wasn't available (like the rear lower control arm and the toe arm) they got replaced with an oem part. Decided to throw 4 new oem wheel bearings in as well. Brembos are mounted and stainless brake hoses all around. Redesigned the only part finished part of my tube front end (lower hoop) and was able to create a ridiculous amount of extra space up front. Now I just need to figure out a radiator hose solution since I have the ability to move the radiator about 6-8in further forward. I may just mount in factory position until I switch to AN radiator hoses, we'll see. I'll post of pictures up of the progress in the next couple days.

Re: Fejerys 97 GSX

Couple quick pictures of the change I made to the front end (hard to take decent pics with the bumper on so I apologize for that!)

There's soooo much extra room for activities!

Also the more I'm thinking about it may be in my best interest to mount the radiator in a close to stock position so I can add ducts to get maximum airflow through the rad. Still undecided though...
