Re: Cylinder head noise!

Idk that oil has much to do with crappy oem lifters. You think your cheaping out with mobil one? ask the guys in the shop what they run in their dd's and I bet you would be suprised. If your car is at map and your worried that mobil one is too cheap, check out Eneos. Just ask them (anyone there about it) what they think about it. The thing is that its not really any more expensive than any other premium synthetic oil.

I think that Kracka had a thread going about oil a little while ago. it may be worth a look.

Anyways, I look forward to hearing what the problem is. I would almost be willing to put money on a lifter(s) or possibly a cam bearing(s). If anyone can figure it out its MAP. Sometimes the pros just got to take over and do work.

I agree and or when your just fed up with all the bull shit then let someone else fix it. I just dont like other ppl working on my car... But thats just me.. even though they are pro's

When I come down to this if its the rod baring then 6 bolt swap time!! I just dont know if I can afford the built one at the moment like I want to do... Kevin ( sleepydsm ) is trying to convince me to do a 2.3 stroker.. I was just planing on doing a built 2.0 but we will see what I can do. I might only be able to do a stock rebuild for the time being but I hate to do the swap and not go all out the first time....

Re: Cylinder head noise!

Well I just got the call from map and it turns out that my cams have back and forth play when everything is tight!!!... they said either the cams were miss machined or the head is fucked.....

Re: Cylinder head noise!

Bummer dude! I would be hoping that its a case of the cams being bad. At least then you could maybe get away with some warranty claim stuff. PITA but at least you wouldnt have to end up paying for it...

pita = pain in the ass

Have them try some stock cams in there to see if the head is bad, otherwise send those new cams back on warranty. Maybe the caps were put back on in the wrong order?

Hopefully it didn't mess up the cam bearings ... err I mean journals haha.

He said there were no scaring and the caps were put into an order af how they came off and thats how they went back on..

They are going to check the cams and if they are bad then obcourse get new one's under warranty considering they have 1 mile on them..

Bought them from map.. but they said mostlikly it will be the head..

Re: Cylinder head noise!

Has the head been machined? Who did the machine work?
This started to happen after you swapped the cams? Was the head pre-existing?

By movement do you mean walking side to side in the head or movement as in the cams slide around inside the cam caps?

Weird shit either way.
