Re: ipod Touch - Can anyone give me a reason not to buy this?

I am very interested in the Touch iPod as well. But, I dont understand how the internet function works? Are there addtional charges or service fees for using the wi-fi?

If you are in an area with free wireless or an unprotected signal then you connect and use the internet. Like a laptop.

Unlike the iphone the internet only works if you are in an area with an open wi-fi signal.

He says it perfectly. I think unless they come out with a big HDD for it, I'm sticking with my 60g 5th gen.

I would dearly hope that Apple fixed their way to easy to scratch problem since my old and current iPod got scratched taking it out of its protective case. Makes sense not.

Re: ipod Touch - Can anyone give me a reason not to buy this?

I have now dropped mine a few times and there isnt a scratch on the screen. On the back there are some scratches but every ipod is that way.

If I wanted an Ipod with a huge amount of storage I wouldnt have bought the touch. I will probably never fill this thing unless I start loading video which I dont plan to do. Maybe for a flight or something but I rarely go anywhere.

That's about it too. I have around 7000 songs and i'm nowhere near filling mine up. I could put about 10 movies on with a couple thousand pics and then finally be close to filling it up and thats with my old 60gig video. But then again with the right conversion of my files this could be wrong.

I honestly don't see a need for more than 10 gigs of music. 10 gigs is such a huge play list anything more gets to be a pain to shuffle through.

Video of course is nice to have... but I think 16gig will suffice for me. Being that my current mp3 player (my blackberry) has 1 gig.

Re: ipod Touch - Can anyone give me a reason not to buy this?

I've had mine for a week now and I love it! It's just fun to play with. I'm road tripping it this Thanksgiving, which is kind of why I wanted it. It just seems like it will be a nice little travel companion and the 16gb should be more than enough for a 9 hour car ride. I've got 4.5 hours of video on it and that only uses 3gb. I'd say it's plenty big.

And the Wifi is awesome. If I just want to check my email quick, I can do it in a minute or two, instead of firing up my computer. Plus I can check it on the go as long as I can grab a free wifi connection.

I'm still getting used to iTunes though. It's a decent program, but things in it are just different than what I'm used to. I've had other mp3 players before but I've never had an iPod, which you can only use with iTunes (as far as I know.) I haven't used it enough to say if its better or worse, it's just different.

No way, more is better! I have 36+Gb of mp3s and I want access to all of them all the time!

Mark, glad you're liking the touch!

Re: ipod Touch - Can anyone give me a reason not to buy this?

Yeah I have an hour commute to work both ways, and burning CDs is honestly getting old. I'm thinking an iPod is becoming closer to a necessity for my sanity in the mornings. In the morning my brain is so ridiculously picky with music, even some of my favorite bands sometimes just disgust me at 6:15 in the morning. Need to be able to have a bit more of a selection. And burning a CD in the morning is a bit too slow of an option, I have my routine down to within a minute.

I might even be willing to ride the bus this winter if I could throw a few episodes of heroes or something on there.

I actually didn't think of it but the touch has a search feature with the keyboard that would make sorting through your library much easier than having to go through it would the scroll wheel.

Maybe I should wait and see if they release a bigger capacity next year, I just released my library is well over 20 gigs last night.

I must miss the cutoff or something. For me driving to work at 4:30 in the morning I almost always can't listen to anything except the exhaust.

Re: ipod Touch - Can anyone give me a reason not to buy this?

Had a touch for a week now, I got it jailbroken and I have all he iPhone apps on it so far. I haven't gotten my work email account on it yet, but i'm not sure I want it on there yet, hah, since it's my toy and not my phone.

Anyway I'm totally satisfied, I love this device.
