Re: The Gun Thread
The new Toy
It's a Marlin 917VR chambered in .17HMR with a heavy barrel. I also installed a 3x9x40 Bushnell rimfire scope.
The .17 HMR is a very fun round with a decently flat trajectory up to 150ish yards. The bullet is plastic tipped and the size of a .177 pellet stuffed in a necked down .22 Magnum cartridge.
Plus this brand from Hornaday has the same name as my motorcycle

Re: The Gun Thread
That was the first and only time that it will see a safe. It is now marking the "dirty clothes spot" of my rooms floor. It's a Russian gun here folks. The stock can be used as a hoe for potato farming. In fact, I believe that is the rifles' primary purpose.

Re: The Gun Thread
THE THREAD IS BACK AFTER A MONTH OF HIBERNATING HAHA!
I've been hunting everything for almost 8 years and I've built up my gun collection nicely I'd have to say for being only 19.
12 gauge semi-auto shotgun from 1940s (damn good condition)
.306 (deer rifle)
30/30 (deer rifle)
20 gauge break action single shot (pheasant gun)
16 gauge (needs new butt)
.357 magnum (never know if you'll see a bear and need to shoot quick!)

Re: The Gun Thread
Wow, a .306? I think you mean .30-06
And a 30-30, you might as well throw a rock! That bullet is traveling so slow the deer can see it and step out of the way!
We need to go shooting sometime. CVD, get on that!
I guess I never listed my little collection:
Ruger 10-22 .22 cal
Mosberg 500 12 guage with smooth and rifled barrels
Colt AR-15 Pre-ban .223
Remington XP-100 in .260 (necked down .308) <-- pistol that thinks it's a rifle, for deer hunting

Yea, my bad, I meant .30-06. And a 30-30 isn't that bad. I've got mine dialed in at 100yrds and I can shoot almost anything within and inch of dead center. Besides, I don't go out and try to shoot the biggest god damn deer from a half-mile away, nothing's ever really further than 80yrds in the woods I hunt in. Every deer I've shot has been with it and I've never hit a bad spot on the deer and always shot only ONCE to bring em' down.
I'm up for shooting sometime if I can every get away from work.
