Another business owner of QPR. And until we quit buying equipment, we don't make squat, but somehow it is still a lot of fun.

If you want decent money and a job pretty much any time you look, consider welding, machining, fabrication in general. I always made good money at those trades and never had to look for a job more than an hour or so between. Most of the time I would end up quiting one to go work for more at another, competitive field.

Unix and Networking in general were the same. Decent field to work in. And by specializing, the money is better and you are more in demand.

IndieP - You work with my bro then in hopkins. He goes by AJ as well and works days. Probably been there 15 years now and is doing pretty well. If you don't mind hard work, it should be a decent place to work. If you can stand the vocalex stuff.

Joem and I both work at Bixby Energy Systems in Rogers MN. I am the head of customer service and also help in the quality department. Joem is the final product checkout person. We are going to be hiring too. We are starting up a 2nd shift in a month. We are hiring for the production supervisor now, we will be hiring for assemblers ($10-14/hr), inspection ($10-$15/hr) and one receiving person (maybe 1st shift). I am not sure about a shift premium at this point.

I own an auto brokerage business. I need a driver once in a while, but don't really need an hourly person yet. I pay ~$10/hr cash or per delivery, which is about the same. A good driving record and reliability are a must.
I got the reliability part but the record....Not the greatest. That would be a cool part-time gig though. I used to work scouting and transport for Capstone Auto Pawn up in St. Cloud. I've always thought about getting into doing delivery for an auction house or something like that. I love to drive and have no problem driving for long distances.

Now work as a hydraulic technician rebuilding and testing hydrostatic pumps and motors. Been there 5 years now. It's a good company to work for. Good insurance and they definately believe in rewarding their employees. We have a bunch of different bonus programs, profit sharing and a good 401K plan.

I actually went to college for hydraulics and hold 3 certifications in the Fluid Power industry.

I work for a security company (Checkpoint Security Systems Group) in Eden Prairie. I won't say what I'm making though. I'm the Accounts Receivable Supervisor with just 2 people under me. I'm hoping to add a 3rd person for an admin position, but I'm still working on that.

I love this place for the most part. Every company will have it's ups and downs, you just have to learn to look on the bright side of things (and not all the negativity).

Oh yeah, I'm also part-owner of QPR.

Anyway, what type of job are you looking for? Maybe that will help some of us point you in the right direction...
