i played back in high school a little, still just play every now and then. I wouldn't say im good enough to be called a "guitarest" though. My buddy Austin on this board (IndiEP) is really damn good. We both started playin together, but he stuck with it more than I, and he has the perfect long skinny fingers for it.
LOL, I actually just put the guitar down. All of my gear is broken too. My Les Paul is in 2 pieces...and I haven't fixed it yet so I play on an "axcalibur", it's pretty much a strat knock off and it friggin' sucks. My amp kinda blew up too, so I use a bass amp w/a peavey EQ through a monitor wedge. I really wanna get a peavey 5150 combo amp, its an awsome high gain amp and I can also rent it out for studio use and make some $$.

Get the 5150 or 5150II head instead of the combo and get a 2x12 or 4x12 cabinet. The high gain those amps have will cause microphonic feedback with the speakers in the same housing. Especially if you have a weak pre-amp tube. Also have it set up for an "adjustable bias". Any reputable tube amp shop can do it for you. Those amps have a fixed bias from the factory which runs the power tubes on the"cold" side which degrades the tone of the amp, especially at higher volumes. This was done to prevent the power tubes from wearing out while still under warranty :-( . Do not go messin' around in an amp if you don't know what you are doing. There are lethal voltages in there (250-500+ volts, even when unplugged from the 110vlts). Swapping tubes is easy and safe, as long as the glass housing is not cracked or broken. Have it set-up with a new set of Svetlana/SED 6L6GC tubes biased for what sounds the best (ussually 80-85% full power). You would not believe the difference it makes in those amps. Full and thick tone, not wimpy. Eddie (VH) doesn't run his stock either ;-). Get the tubes from somebody like NBS Electronics. They test and match all their power tubes, so once your amp is properly set-up, you can order replacement tubes later. You will get tubes matched the same and you won't have to re-bias your amp, just stick the new tubes in. I buy all my tubes from them too.

Ah, I never though about that. Which tubes are you talking about, the preamp or power amp?

Yea I play guitar also. I have been in various bands for the last 4 years. The band I was just in was getting real good but now our drummer quit. So im now looking for a new drummer. Anybody know any drummers?? Yea in this band we play all originals, and i write most of them and i also sing all of them.
For guitars i have: Gibson Les Paul, Fender Strat, Gibson Explorer, Ephiphone SG, Ephiphone acoustic, and an ibanzez semi hollow body guitar.
For amps i have a Marshall JCM 900 half stack, and a Marshall VS100 half stack.
No two better hobbies then playing guitar, and owning a DSM.

Been playing on and off since I was 8, <about 35 years ago now> Playing with a 3 peice now, recording mostly original hard rock. I have a 98 Tele USA, 82 HAMER STD Explorer USA <I LOVE Old Hamers, great sustain and necks>, a Alverez Acoustic Eletric, and my favorite right now a black and silver Les Paul USA with Kammer hot rails pickups. Running a 100 Watt 6l6 Carvin Tube head, on a Jackson 4X12 bottom with a ZOOM 707exspresion-effect pedal. Also playing alot Bass for my Church now with a Kr Hamer STD bass and peavy 700 watt head and 4X10 bottom. Favorite guitarest: Micheal Schenker, Uli Roth, Robin Trower, Jimmey Page, Eddie Van Halen, Vivian Cambell, Alex Lifeson, Slash, Gary Richrath, Toni Iomi, George Lynch, Richie Backmore, and many many more.

I'll never be as good as I want to be, but playing guitar has given me many years of excitment, challanges, enjoyment and even relaxation.

For me its now just a fun hobby, lucky now to be able to keep our 3 peice going as life is busy and spare time is very short.

ROCK ON!

For those of us who think we can play, check this guy out.

I don't know what's more impressive, his ability or his ability to do that on an acoustic.

But sold my Les Paul Studio to Howie, and My Fender Accoustic Electric to Jenny's mother.

4-string bass here. I've got an electric and an acoustic guitars but haven't sat down and learned much for chords yet.

That guy in the acoustic video does all the same right hand tricks as Victor Wooten on bass and his brother on electric guitar. Cool stuff.

If anybody's interested in trading a small bass practice amp for my 15" Peavey keyboard amp, let me know. It just doesn't have the low end punch I need, but is great for most other instruments and is loud as hell.
