Where/who/how were you thinking of doing the undercoating? Make sure to have it done right and not just have it done weather that is you or someone else doing it.

Actually, if you're not driving it in the winter, I wouldn't do it. There's no need for it.

I suspect that I will have to drive it in the winter as I do not have the money to buy a beater in time. I also have other bills to take care of first.

Check with some of the paying vendors on here since they do have a lift and that would be a way better option for what you are looking to have done.

Which vendors do you know of that does a good job at undercoating a car? I have another thread dedicated to this question, but no body knew of a place that did it.

Re: Operation OEM Oldschool - 1994 Eagle Talon TSI AWD
I just bought some brand new Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires for my car. I hear they are pretty good all season tires and as of now, without enough money to buy a beater, this will be my only car :'(
Next on the list of to do's
Fix that annoying oil leak coming from the oil return tube where it meets the oil pan. FedEx tracking says I should get my parts in today. I'm using all new OEM bolts, crush washers, and gasket.

Ziebart used to be the big place to get it done, but since all auto manufacturers went to zinc coatings now, there's not much need for it anymore.

I'm fixing to call them or go visit them in the near future. I'm also looking into this "Z-Shield" thing that they got. Apparently its some sort of clear film that you can safely remove at anytime and it doesn't affect paint, ect. Since this will have to be my DD, I don't look forward to getting anymore rock chips than it already has.

Re: Operation OEM Oldschool - 1994 Eagle Talon TSI AWD
Earlier today around noon, I changed the oil, oil filter, and fixed that annoying oil leak coming from the oil return tube gasket. I used all new OEM parts.
Just in case people wanted to know any part numbers.
Oil return tube gasket MR258477 (You will need 1)
Turbo oil return tube crush washer MF660031 (You will need 2)
Bolt, return tube to oil pan MF101229 (You will need 2)
You torque them to 6-7 ft/lbs or 72-84 in/lbs
I didn't do anything "fancy" like doubling up on the gaskets, or use copper spray on the gasket, or sealant on the threads or anything. Personally I don't want to do any of that stuff but I know that is what some people do to stop this leak. All I did was replace the old parts with the new parts and as of now there has been no leaks or drips but I will continue checking for the next few days.

For now, yes. I have other financial priorities to attend to at the moment so getting a beater takes a backseat.

Re: Operation OEM Oldschool - 1994 Eagle Talon TSI AWD
If you are going to have to drive it in the winter I recomend at least talking to Curt from www.mn3s.org . I have never seen anything stay so nice driven in soo many winters as his GSX. He knows how to keep things really clean in MN.
