Prices? I need help.
Craig told me to come here and talk to Chris. I need to ask for prices on everything to do a timing belt, including water pump, idler pulley, tensioner. I am getting this information fro Craig, haha I have no idea what to do. I really have no idea. I really help. My car is a 2.0 Non-turbo. 1997

Re: Prices? I need help.
Since this thread is asking for the same things that I need I'll post up here also. How much can I get a timing belt for a 1993 Talon TSI awd for? If forgot what else I would need for this job also, but just post up prices of everything I'll need/should have done while I have the timing belt, headgasket, water pump done...

Just so you know, you can also get your water pump from Napa (not trying to cut business from our sponsor), and it was about $60. It's a very expensive job to do, which is why it's nice to know someone who can do it for you to save on labor as well....

Re: Prices? I need help.
Hmm. Good plan. Oh, and I was wondering... Is it 100% nessicary to do all of that other stuff when i do the timing belt, or can just the timing belt be done. I need an expert. Chiltons had nothing to say, those bastards.

Re: Prices? I need help.
tauni... its recomenede that you replace them... Is it neccessary, some would say yes, but I would get the timing belt and water pump and then go from there, check the pulleys and tensioner....

Re: Prices? I need help.
My car has 113K miles on it right now and LSE told me that I should have all the belts changed out while it's already out, so it'll be cheaper. I dont think he mentioned anything about pulleys but something about a tensioner. But I pretty much just wanna know how much a Timing Belt, Headgasket and all the accessory belts and tensioners cost from the dealership. I'm thinking about getting a Cometic Headgasket, but I'm not sure how much better it is than the OEM one....
(if I dont make too much sense, I just woke up like 10 mins ago... )

Re: Prices? I need help.
Yeah I still have my balance shafts in. Are they worth taking out? If so then I might as well spend the extra money to have it removed. Oh yeah....are any of the belts supposed to rub against the plastic timing belt cover? I think mine is...atleast it looks like it. Oh...and how about a valve cover gasket, spark plug gaskets and that other little gasket for the thing on the left side of the valve cover. I got a price from you a while back, but I think I'm gonna have my valve cover replaced "this time."

Say i decided to do the timing belt and the water pump (possibly tensioner?) and had it done at brookdale mitsu, labor and for the parts, could I get an extimate as to what the grand total would be?

Re: Prices? I need help.
Considering some shop my dad looked at for me today was running it at just under a grand. Yikes.

Re: Prices? I need help.
That is way overpriced for a timing belt. Ususlly it can be done for around 400. I am not sure why they said so much. Maybe they are making you pay for the timing tools they need also.

Yeah then you include the labor and your are right under a grand just like she said. Parts alone if you do it right and just do everything will cost close to 400 dollars.
