Re: oil pan gasket
the black rtv is what i've always used; it will say 'for oil pans' in the recommended uses on the label.
Tip: use enough, but not too much, and be careful to not scrape any of it off when you re-install the oil pan.
Tip #2: 5 ft-lbs or so on the oil pan bolts--they strip very easily! check your manual.
