The screen "honeycomb" does nothing besides evn the air flow going through it. It is just a screen that clips in and out. I took mine out and the car runs fine, just noticed that on hot days your idle drops a little and on cold days its much higher becuase the airflow isnt as even across the maf sensors and it senses less dense air when warm out.
