Re: Potential Buy 1997 GSX

also anyone understand how the boost control via link works? everything on this car as far as management goes is taken straight off ecmlinks website/parts list.

before ever looking at how it works i was thinking it would just be as simple putting in the boost you wanted for each rpm range, but thats not the case lol and the numbers aren't making sense to me as to how its calculated.

cars only running 17psi right now and was tuned for 22psi would like to get it back to 22psi.

Yes it's very easy. Go to the Boost (WGS) tab and look at the Base Duty Cycle chart, highlight the range you want to increase the boost and hit ctrl + up or simply raise the numbers a couple points. Then test drive and see what boost you hit and tweak it until it's where you want it.

If your logging a map sensor and you have a good base duty cycle chart setup already then you can enable the error correction feature which is pretty cool. But I just use the base duty cycle chart.

Ghost,

I know there are three gears listed. And to help the tranny I am thinking of leaving gears one and probably two at the 17psi.

And then just up gear three. Am I correct in thinking all I have to do then is just change the gear three settings?

Also any idea how much to increase to get a psi? Or does it vary based on setups?

Im not at home so can't review logs but I believe the 17psi is set at like 29 on the base duty cycle and when he was running 30psi I think the number was 56. might be a calculation there to get the nimber requires for each psi.

Forgot to quote this earlier. From what I've been told, 1st and 2nd you don't have to worry about breaking gears, it's the torque that breaks 3rd and 4th because of their placement in the transmission.

I guess maybe you are worried about synchros, and not breaking the gears? Just be nice when shifting and low 20's should be no problem.

Only for traction reasons/launching I keep boost lower in 1st gear. I don't have traction problems in 2nd or 3rd.
