Re: 2014 Racing Events / Driving Schools / Tracktime --let's do this!

I've driven/instructed an SCCA HPDE event there with passing. No issues with that as far as I know. Contract passing in the longer straightaway with the car ahead letting off a bit for the faster car (most of the time).

In the advanced group people got in the way still. A lot of driver skill/car capability disparity even in that group, no way are you going to ever get a bunch of people/cars who are going exactly the same rate around the circuit.

This event is for all skill levels, the last thing needed is anything that could risk in contact. The other aspect is we want people to feel comfortable on track so they can learn, car passing contradicts that. There is no live timing, you can pull off in the pits to give a gap. I am not sure I understand what you are saying, how can you have "no issues", but they say the advanced group got "in the way". I am sure I am misreading. I hope you understand the spirit of these events.

Isn't that why you have separate run groups? People comfortable with passing in advanced?

Sorry that I was a bit vague - what I meant by 'issues' was cars getting pushed off track, accidents, or car contact due to dangerous passing. I don't really consider cars being held up that big of an 'issue'.

Don't get me wrong - I appreciate people being willing to put on these events and I'll still plan on coming even without passing. You have every right and incentive to make this a safe, fun event for everyone. I was just curious.
