Re: 4g61?

You have to be careful using the engine code 4g61. There is a 4g61 that came in Hyundai Elantra, 4g61 and 4g61T that came came in CSM's. I assuming that you are talking about a 4g61T that came with the 89 turbo CSM's.
This engine is identical to the 4g63T's 6 bolts.
The major difference is that:
1) engine is a 1.6l
2) no oil squiters
3) Last time I checked there was no balance shaft
4) less torque and hp
5) I believe compression is also different
The advantage with a 4g61T with good compressions is that most 4g63T stock parts bolt right up to it. You could squeeze about 165 to 200+ hp with the basic 4g63T parts and mods with a good tune. This would include 14b turbo's, 2g exhaust manifold, 1g cams, 1g 450 injectors, 1G/2G MAS and most of the free mods you can do with a 4g63T. Plus you would also save yourself some money until you can afford a 4g63T or 4G64T.
If you do have a 4g61T where did you get it from?
