MAC events up here, Chippewa Valley Sports Car Club stuff down there, or what?
Have you looked at the class rules at all? I'd look and choose something close to your modification path and prep the car as well as you can for that class, it'll make it entirely more fun if you're at least somewhat competitive. I just started doing these (4th one this weekend for me) and because of my clutch and intercooler I'm thrown into Street Prepared against a prepped M3 and an older Porsche, I'm nearly 2 seconds slower than them mainly because I have zero suspension work done.
Thanks to cdeutsch here are the SCCA classes an you can run in with dumbed down rules (read the SCCA rule book for full details):
Stock (front sway bar, struts (NOT springs), any DOT tire that fits on the stock sized rim)
Street
Prepared (boost, tune, suspension, clutch, intercooler, intake, exhaust, fender flares, wheels, tires)
Street
Modified (
SP, plus motors, turbos, etc)
Street
Touring (intake, exhaust, tune but NO BOOST MODS, suspension, wheels, tires up to 245 width and 140 min treadwear)
Prepared (
SM, plus a lot of gutting, and other crazy stuff)
