Thanks! I still have to extend the passenger side headlight motor plug, but that only takes like 20 mins max. That and the MAF sensor plug needed to be extended as well. Not hard at all, and it's still easy to get to and protected.

Re: Getting the Laser ready for AutoX

Got the j pipe for it, and she moves under her own power now! Still have to do some clutch adjusting, but already the clutch feels so much better with the new parts. The only thing holding me up now is money again. lol

Here's a pic of the engine bay currently:

I also installed a factory 1g eclipse spoiler I've had sitting around since last year. I also sanded it down and painted it black last year.

I still have to get a few things:

-Set of 20 lugnuts for a 2g
-New Sparkplug Wires
-Do a good boost leak test
-Tranny is leaking gear oil, so I'll have to do something about that
-Clutch still grabs right off the floor. I think it has to do with the adjustment
-Bolt down the battery better
-Replace the left front steering ball joint

Money is just real tough to come by at the moment. I just keep telling myself this is a hobby, work on it when I can
afford it.

EDIT: Really dumb question, but does anyone have a spare clutch master cylinder cap? I fuckin lost mine and it's driving me crazy.

Re: Getting the Laser ready for AutoX

I decided to stay home from the dyno day and do some more thing to the laser. Got the wheels on, fixed 90% of boost leaks. Theres still a very slow leak at the tb, anybody have any suggestions?

Come monday, I'll put insurance on it and get new 08 tags. Then she becomes the daily driver.

Hey the tb is pretty common to have a boost leak. If it's not really bad I wouldn't worry about it. I know you can hear a slow leak on mine as well.

Re: Getting the Laser ready for AutoX

Took it out yesterday for a long drive to work out any bugs. All was good up untill I got on it, started getting wheel hop and then the car just stopped. Fuel pump is working, I can hear fuel flowing through the fuel rail. Got compression. Timing is okay. I checked every single connection in the engine bay and everything seems to be good.

What it does is the engine will turn over, but it doesn't even try to fire. Once of the fuses in the fuse block that bolts to the battery terminal is fucked so I gotta do something about that.

So embarassing.

Any check engine codes? Maybe a connector came loose during the shaking from your wheel hop.

Re: Getting the Laser ready for AutoX

Figured it out. It's the seperate part of the engine harness that branches off by the fuel filter and goes to the a/c condensor and to the brake master cylinder fluid holder (lol, spelling>me). I checked all the connectors to see if they all get 12 volts, which they did. Then I looked behind the engine where it was, moved it up out of the way, and tried it. She starts right up, a little rich of course.

I guess that's dsming. I just got home from trying it out, and during the decent rain we're having right now. She runs perfect, no missing, cutting out, etc. Hopefully it's a nice day tomorrow so I can get some more gas in it and drive it some more.

Re: Getting the Laser ready for AutoX

Thanks for the compliment.

However, now the bitch is over-heating. It seems to be the t-stat is sticking. She'll warm up quick, hover around 200 when the fan kicks in, but then slowly keeps rising. She was at about 230 on the logger when I got it home and let it cool down. Even when I got on the highway it didn't help.

Re: Getting the Laser ready for AutoX

I took the t-stat out and she runs really nice and cool untill I get into town, stop for any amount of time and the temps shoot up. Not as bad as with the thermostat in there. I need to get a second fan though.

Re: Getting the Laser ready for AutoX

Holy triple post batman!

Figured out my over-heating issue. The stock fan wasn't turning on for some reason. I'd let it sit in my garage and idle all the way up to 210 and nothing. So I spliced into the fan wires and ran a switch inside. I wired it so I wouldn't need the key in the ignition so I can leave the fan on to keep the engine cool after shutting it off.

She runs so cool now, 160-170 through town with the fan on. On the highway I didn't need the fan on yesterday, but it was raining so we'll have to wait for a really warm day.

I am very happy with the way it turned out. She runs absolutely flawless. Next up I got to replace all the wheel bearings, ball joints, and I would like to get poly bushings for the suspension, sway bars, and find an equal length axle setup.
