The only question I have is, why hasnt Shep unleashed the beast? I would bet if Shep put his motor (or an identical setup) in that car, it would stomp Rau.

You're forgetting that Brent has a Liberty tranny, Shep has a glide. It would take some power to overcome that difference, plus Brent has mucho experience driving RWD. And Shep's car would probably have a 100-200# weight penalty for the different chassis configurations. I think Brent would take it every time by quite a bit.
