B, basicaly to find people you need their name and locations to start. Married names doesn't help the best. Jana and I are probably gonna sign up for the full serivce anyway as we both want to track more, and I'm curious about my German side as well.

There's no genealogy history of your families back around home? I don't know Jana's family but I would think that there is a history for the Dahlen name so you'd have that side covered.
