Oil leaks - Mystery

It really seems like it has to do with the balance shaft. It SEEMS to be originating at the balance shaft closest to the fire wall, then dripping towards the crank pulley where it makes a puddle getting onto the timing belt.

Im still open up for ideas but I really wanna figure out what could cause a leak from the balance shaft.

Go to vfaq and look at the balance shaft elimination page. It is critical to put rtv on the one bolt hole or it will leak. I dont remember specifically because I was a little boozed up when I last looked.

I bet that it is your problem though.

When reinstalling the oilpump cover, make sure to either get a new shorter bolt, or install the old pulley and bolt. Put some RTV on the bolt threads before tightening it down. If you do not seal this hole, you will have a massive oil leak.

If that is the hole, then it's not a HUGE deal. I have a feeling it's coming from the other shaft, on the far right side of that picture =/ Ideas ? I'm not really sure why it would leak. Yes I used red loctite on the nut for the oil pump.

More info. If the car is cool, you start it, run it for awhile... it will not leak. You almost have to get it up to operating temp before it will even start to leak. I'm about >< this far from pulling off the front case. We have ok oil pressure until it gets warm, then it goes down the shitter. It starts off solid ( for a used engine) at the bottom line that shows it's ok, but after running it for about 5 minutes, the pressure starts to drop towards the 20% range. I really have no idea what could cause this.

The oil APPEARS to be coming from the crankshaft pulley and/or the oil pump gear area. We all know how oil works and how it can be decieving so if anyone has any last minute info, please let me know

You did rotate the balance shaft bearings when you took out the balance shafts right? Sorry if that is too obvious of a question.

Yea lol.

I'm sure I did because it was a bitch but where would it leak if you forgot that? I thought you just wouldn't get any oil pressure.
