Re: My Tranny Teardown

I am just wondering, lets pretend i took apart a perfect working tranny. Could I just then reassemble it correctly and it'd work just as it did before? I'm saying, I wouldnt have to recheck the endplay or anything like that?

I have a working GVR4 tranny in my car now, but there is some play where the CV goes into the diff. I'd like to take it apart and see why there is play? And if it is fucked, I could probably just use the one from my broken tranny.

That might smooth out your grinds a little depending on how severe it is. Otherwise just suck it up and deal with the grinds.
I have tried using quality gear lube and it didnt help. Like I said, I havent taken it apart because I dont know how. There could be a lot wrong with it and I wouldnt even know til I got it apart.

The reason I think it might be something simple is because the car is still 100% stock with about 80k miles on it. It was adult driven and used as nothing more than a daily driver. The previous owner wasnt out raging on it.

But again, I know nothing about a DSM tranny so that is why I havent done anything with it.

LOL. Funny stuff. A bunch of people that attend the UofM and Century just got busted for alcohol in a dorm room party. Oh well..anyway...back on topic. I'm still in the process of planning my very own tranny tear down. Hope all turns out well for me. Not going to happen for another couple of months or so...
