My 1994 Talon TSi has terrible cruise control surge. I don't know if this is a common problem or if there is a way to fix this...but input would be greatly appreciated.
My Talon has a big 16g, EVO III manifold, bigger fuel pump, etc. on it and the boost hits right at 3000-3150 RPM. Highways here in Colorado are 75 MPH limit and at 75 my RPMs sit at 3500. If I set my cruise to 75 or even 80, it will hold ok until I hit a slight up-hill or come off a downhill. What will happen is the car will be at 75...drop to 73...cruise will try to recover to 75 but it will boost to 10 psi before it gets to 75 causing a serious rise in MPH. The cruise will back out of the throttle abruptly (normally at 77) then go back down to 73 and hit 10 psi all over again and again and again!
With the State Patrol hitting my commute area real heavy lately, I would like a functioning CC so in my sleep while I am driving to work I don't have to pay so much attention to my speed!
Is this common for all "modded" TSi's or is there something I can do to adjust the sensitivity of the CC?
