How do I clean the MAF and such?

Sorry if I am sounding like an idiot...but I am not sure of the proper names of what is behind/inside my K&N. On my car is a K&N on the stock intake hose. Inside that is what I am assuming is the MAF and air temp sensor. Is there anyway to clean these internals without destroying the sensors? Is it even required or neccessary to be cleaned?
