Need help with rim sizing

I am looking at some ROTA D2's and they come in 17x7.5 and 17x8.5, would the 8.5's fit?? They come in several different offsets: +20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50. I would really like to get the wider ones, but i dont know enough about rims to know for sure. Any advice is useful.
