Clutch problem comes with surprise.

Today I had the time and the chance to tear apart my car and see what was going on and I found the problem with a surprise. There were 2/4 rubber parts on my disc that were completely gone and all over the inside of my tranny. My pressure plate was not tight to my flywheel with one bolt loose and scratching an arc in the inside wall of the tranny. And the surprise was this plug behind the flywheel that holds oil inside the block, whhich for some reason has not loosened but doesn't have a tight seal so it has been pissing oil inside my tranny and coated my disk and clutch in oil. I have pictures to show you what has been going on.

How and what kind sealant should I use on this plug to keep this problem from happening again? What could cause this plug to start leaking if it makes a seal when it is tightened? What causes those rubber parts to disintegrate like this?
