Re: Engine Install(2G)

Ok, Its a 98. The BS's are gone. I had the CAS wired wrong and thats the reason it didnt start the frist day but i fixed it and now its correct. I checked the timing and the little dot thingy is at 0 so the timeing was fine. The reason he got it for free was because we knew a kid in the auto dismataling class at century and he asked if he wanted it and he gave it to him. If i remember correctly the car was damaged in the back thats why it was there. As for the PS I took a piece of speaker wire and wraped it around the pulleys and cut it to fit. Then I brought that to checkers and they found one that was the right size (the one on lexington and larp has alot of belts). I got belt #50400290 but its just a tad to big and i had to remove one bolt to make it fit right. They showed me another one that was like #5040280 or 5040285 I dont remember. But it needed to be just a little bit smaller then the one I got. Aslo I didnt say that I have my rear O2 sensor cut. I was told that might be the black smoke deal but I donno.

Re: Engine Install(2G)

The rear O2 will set a CEL, but will not effect how the car runs.
The timing should be @ 5 deg advanced, but I doubt that's the problem.
I may have missed it in the thread, but do you have a logger? If so, does anything look out of wack?

If the car was hit hard you might want to check the fuel pump assembly in the tank to make sure something wasn't knocked loose. Check the pump mounting, pick-up sock, tank baffle, etc.

Re: Engine Install(2G)

If you come to my house again sometime, we can log it to see what the cell is. PM me and we can maybe find a time.

Re: Engine Install(2G)

Check to see that your MAS plug is connected. If it is, pull it off and reconnect it and give it a shot. A similar thing happend to one of our cars when somebody forgot to connect the MAS after a boost leak test. Another 2g ran fine without it connected though. Factory gauge was the only thing not working.

Re: Engine Install(2G)

Try adjusting your throttle cable for that issue. It might be routed wrong or something. It is most likely caught up on something a little. I had that problem with my gst also.

Re: Engine Install(2G)

Do you still have AC? Check the plugs on the harness and make sure the plug going to the coil is plugged into the coil and the plug from the AC and Crank sensor are all good and not swapped. I worked on a car that had that problem before. Just throwing out ideas.

The gas pedal being stiff or sticking could be due to a bad ground also. I've seen many of them chaft inside the cable then freeze up when under heavy acceleration. My $.02~
