The guy showed his gun because he was scared of the black guy approaching him. That is the undercurrent of racism that exists. People learn to be racist and it's passed down from generations. On the other side, fear and anger from being discriminated against is also learned and passed down through generations.

If nobody ever talked about any of this, slavery would still exist.

Also I can understand protesting. How ever if people want others to change the way they view what has now gotten to the point of thinking its a majority of the population.
Then maybe they should be protesting or actively trying to go directly to the areas or groups thay are causing people to think of a certain culture negatively.

Basically you dont go to a job interview with your pants around your ankles, drunk, or in a bikini, nor do you go to church dressed like shit. So clearly people grasp this concept. So you dress up so people take you seriously and think of you as respectable, honorable, responsible etc.

Start protesting at schools where kids dress like shit, start protesting about video games that promote killing civilians or police, start protesting at your government to actually make changes where they are supposed to be.

As a culture dont bitch about someone who robbed a store and got shot while trying to escape, and after assaulting a police office while trying to get the officer gun (anyone who reaches for an officers gun, what do you think there intentions are? To pawn it? Had he gotten it he would have fired at the officer, so even the attempt of him going for the gun should then be a charge of attempted murder of a policeman. Wtf will that solve blaming police for trying to protect whats left of the responsible citizens.

I guess i no respect or sympathy for peoplem like Michael brown and I certainlyndont have respect for those protesting on his behalf. They are part of the problem not the solution

When I read these types of comments in threads it makes me shake my head wondering if you truly interact with people of color on a regular basis or if you are going by what you read and see on TV. I'm in the south and I work with many blacks (and Latinos/Mexicans), color doesn't matter to me, I treat everybody with respect and they treat me with respect. Might be hard to believe that all us white southerners aren't racist if you watch enough MSNBC, CNN, SHARPTON, JACKSON, ETC. I work at a Porsche dealership with many blacks, some are very successful business people and some I wouldn't trust to mop the floor. And you know what, there are whites here that fit both of those catagories too, imagine that. I also work with many customers of all races that easily fit into each of those catagories. But what I do see in one catagory that I don't see in others, the blacks who don't apply themselves want to blame their poor performace and failures on some mystical "oppression by the man" instead of working hard like the rest of us. They don't seem to understand that if you want to make big money, you have to be a big asset to the business, not a leech. I see it all the time, the guy that half ass washes a car will be the one complaining about how he's under paid and "the man is keeping him down".

There's a big difference between the slavery of generations ago and whats happening today. Back then slavery was legal and should have been talked about because a race of people were being abused and held against their will.
Today they are choosing to buy into the "oppression" and becoming modern day slaves of their own making.

For reference - I am one of 6 whites at the plant I work at out of 109 people. Excluding office managers.

And viscous is right the dress code and conduct goes both ways. This story. Happens to be about blacks vs policies im sure mind sets are focused on that.

As for an example of white doing the same crap. Where I live there is a whole section of town
That has gotten the nick name "east camden" and for the most part if you are what most consider to be a redneck around here you live in that area of town. It also happens to have the highest rate of bar fights in the city.
My wife stopped doing wedding photography for people who are having there weddings over on that Sid of town strictly because of to many instances where police had to be called or fights broke out.

Money isn't worth her safety or the damage it would do to my kids if something happened to her.

And like viscous said -most plants in this area work off of a "temp" agency to hire people because of the exact same issue he mentioned. At first I couldn't believe the situation. I had to work 9months as a temp before getting hired. But after 6yrs of working here I've seen first hand why this particular plant is having problems getting new business/corporate funding to expand.
This area has one the highest turn over rates around because of how many people we have to let go, for stuff that I never would have imagined being an issue up north (at least I never experienced it, jobs I heldmpreviously I guess people just understood the meaning of work)

The reason I posted the Morgan Freeman video is because he is correct. As long as we keep creating/defining people by color or race things will never get better.

Want a good example, go to your neighborhood pre-school/toddler center where the children haven't been exposed to "race" and you'll see them all getting along, well except for the child that wants all the cookies for him/her self and takes them regardless of skin color. Children/people are not born racist. That seed is planted somewhere during their formative years. All it takes is that first comment or statement where they perceive that color of the skin some how makes a person different or looked down upon. That same seed is planted by the race baiters and black community upon itself that no matter how hard you work, you'll never be successful because you are black so don't even try.

I like the way Chris Rock puts it in this video. In a nutshell, he says that true equality is when a black guy that sucks at his job is looked at the same as a white guy that sucks at his.

The other thing I noticed is. At the website I read this all from (yahoo news)
The author was always saying micheal a black male was shot and killed by a white officer.

Then in this new development there was nothinf said about what color the shooters were or what color the officers that were shot were.

So why use color for one but not the other. Or why use color at all?

To me it again shows blatant example of pushing and agenda or topic.

Way off topic but with viscous comment I have to post this.
Although I forget what he was running for but last year a guy who was running for some office pretty much spent his whole campaign focused on legalizing pot. All his signs etc all had pot leafs on them. (If i remember correctly the guy was ex pro football player) anyrate he almost won his election . Scary part is when legalizing pot is your primary focus and goal for when you are in office. Wtf does that say for our governement and its standards and priorities?
Saw on facebook a perfect example of this yesterday. Was a picture stating that we give 2 billion dollars a year to Israel (shows a pictures of its gleaming city) then at the bottom it states that we gave Detroit "0" money last year and shows a picture of the state Detroit is in.
I cant figure out how to share the link to the picture. But wish I could.

If you're going to bring up Israel, you need to look at all the countries we give billions to that burn our flags in the streets. Israel has long been our ally in the Middle East. Maybe not so much these days though.

And once again. I just read the article about the capture. And although yes there was a picture of him at the top. Not once did I see anywhere them state colors of the shooter or police.

I also took notice that the protesters mentioned that yes this was a step back but thay they could be proud for the, house cleaning, of the police department and that they look for reform.

I for one cant help but think again. Why aren't they protesting about the criminal actions? They are the ones causing this mess. The police are just doing there jobs. And all this is doing is telling our police that they cant do there jobs.
