tylerm's evo

Well I tried making one of these on evomn but that site crashed and I lost my thread. So ill just make one on here.

Just wanted to make one of these for peoples opinions/help/suggestions

So we all know the dilemma I had with my motor being funky. Low compression with descent leak down numbers. Well I ended up buying a 2.3l stroker. Before putting it in, I went to a local car meet. And raced a old friends lq4 6.0 swapped trans am.

And after that I did another leak down with the cams taken out of the car. The test was par with perfect (~4/6%). I couldn't believe a un healthy motor could even come close to a car like that.

So I sold this beauty

and bought this for that special girl in my life

She said yes!

now back to my car stuff, Needing a new clutch I ordered, those girodisc s/s pads cant wait to go in either! I need the time to do the clutch now paid a now not so much of a friend to do it but things happened and we don't talk anymore so still waiting for my money from him Im going to do the clutch myself. Hopefully it goes well.

ss orange pads are going to go in after proving grounds (gotta use up the ferodo's I have)

and cleaned up the car a bit (engine bay atleast)
Before

after

Def going to get them powder coated when they start chipping or if. I used dupli color hi temp primer paint and clear. Just to see what it'd look like before I got it all powdered.

Had a free glowshift wideband, Got rid of it for a AEM ugeo and not looking back

Needing a tune (just on the old e85 tune from when chuck had the car with minor adjustments for current mods and descent afr) I had a date with shane but had to cancel some how right before the tune, just my luck! my radiator started pissing fluid everywhere, where the plastic is crimped on top. Soo spending the "car part" money I had saved up to rush me a radiator (only car cant go without it especially when I need it for work.) I bought this Full blown alumn radiator. Let me said it is a beauty!

unfortunately my phone was dead when I installed it so no out of box pics.

So I have a date set now for the end of July. Hopefully nothing stops my from that (knocks on wood)

even with the ups and downs, its still way better than what I had before this, and I love my evo

Has wing back on it.

Comments/questions/hate/love all welcome in my thread!

My plans as of now are
A. to get it tuned well, after getting clutch put in
B. hopefully rims and some nitto nt05s or Dunlop star specs v2
C. freshen it up for more seat time this summer fluids get brakes done etc the basics for autoX

Yeah, having it on one board is enough when both have the same people.

Changed the t case fluid, trans fluid, bled the clutch, inspected brake pads and rotors, and went over the whole car.

All I need to do is change the rear diff fluid (didnt have the right size wrench on hand yesterday) and the socket/ratchet didnt fit with the mustache bar in the way. So ill go grab my wrench set I borrowed to a friend and get r done Thursday. And lastly give her a good wash detail and wax, than on the trailer to go to pg at bir! Gonna be a fun weekend hopefully see some of you there!

Also added this guy to make sure im safe nltsing with the twin disc

And did a hard core cleaning interior session. Shampood and cleaned carpets cleaned and conditioned all the leather (ssl package)
Came out like a new interior! Love it

Re: tylerm's evo

Im trailering it to proving grounds. I exactly dont have the best luck no matter how well I maintain my vehicles. So im bringing it up on a trailer just in case anything breaks, because otherwise id be stranded 4.5 hrs from home.

Re: tylerm's evo

Thanks mike! I am very extatic about that. Tried autox today some reason car didn't like part throttle. Kept dieing every time I would end a run and coast. Did one last run after cruising around BIR and going to get food and she stayed alive and ran very good around the course!

Im sure its the tune is why its running poorly under part throttle. I really need a tune

Re: tylerm's evo

Offical time slips

Than had to back up my 11.97 run and ran a hair faster (11.96)

I didnt care on shitty reaction times as I was just doing test and tune and wanted to focus on my launching and am just drag racing against myself not worring on the other lane.

When I do the clutch job if time allows ill be throwing a evo 8 3rd gear in it and later maybe valve springs and retainers so I can rev a tad higher than 6500 since at the end of the 1/4 I hit rev limit in 4th and that slowed down my time and mph some. And was too close to the finish that going into 5th would of made it worst.
