Re: 4th times a charm.....
Well, finally got it all together and going. And I found one good use for a narrow band gauge. It told me my o2 sensor was dead. So I got a new one in tonight and now its all good.
I also got the new to me wheels and tires on. I had a couple bad tires and one bad rim, so these were my next option.
Also got bored and debagded the car a little bit. I only took off the TSI and the turbo decals. I also replaced the headliner fabric. There were a bunch of pins in it and my son kept taking them out so I just fixed it. I just used material i had at the house. Kinda odd, but I like it.
Anyway, here are some pics.

Re: 4th times a charm.....
Been driving it for a bit now, and the only bad thing is, I have no 4th gear. From what I have read sounds like an end clutch problem. I am hoping that its only that. I am just waiting on taxes to get the parts.

Is it even attempting to go into fourth gear?

Re: 4th times a charm.....
as far as I can tell, yes. it just revs high.
I have been trying to find out the issue. and so far its either end clutch or something in the valvebody.
I think i may pull the end clutch off just to see what it looks like. Maybe that will tell me something.

Re: 4th times a charm.....
Took it out for another longer drive today. and it def shifts into 4th, but than just revs like crazy and when I turn OD off, i can feel it shift down into 3rd again.

Re: 4th times a charm.....
Well. it was definately the end clutches bad. While I am waiting for my kit from IPT i went to the junkyard and found some parts. swap things around and bam, now I have OD again.
I did learn a couple things though. the 1.8 auto end clutch hubs are different from the awd cars. The clutches themselves are the same, but the hubs that they go into are different.

Re: 4th times a charm.....
A little update on the car.
I recently picked up a Zeitronix ZT-2 wideband/egr setup. Than I ordered the matching map sensor from MAP. Got it all installed last week. Also swapped out the Pacesetter exhaust mani for a evo3 one. That made a hug difference. The turbo spools so much quicker now.
I was going to install the 16g turbo I have, but after doing a leak down test I decided not too. I was having issue's with the dipstick blowing out and even after a new pcv valve it would still do it. Found out its leaking past the rings.
So I picked up another 6 bolt block and crank, and then the 2g piston 1g rod setup from Shane.
Now i gotta decided if I wanna go that way, or buy the 2.4 dohc motor out of my buddys wrecked galant. i always wanted to do a bigger motor in the car, but was gonna keep it simple. So got some thinking to do on that one.

Re: 4th times a charm.....
Sorry guys. Not much going on right now. Currently working on getting my spare motor together and swapped into my Toyota truck. so been doing alot of research on what it takes to do a RWD setup.
The talon has been running good. Currently installed a 14b turbo and have it running on 12psi. Otherwise I have just been using it as my DD and trying to not break it. lol.

Re: 4th times a charm.....
Well. Had a lead on a new place to live, but had to get a down payment asap. So sadly I sold the talon. I really hated to sell it, but family comes first. As well as having a decent place for my kids.
However, now that me and the wife have gotten settled in and got things taken care of, I have been able to pick up another car to work on. I will be having some questions with this one though. Its a little different than the talons I have worked on.
Thanks for the support with this car though. Its great to have a place that will actually help ya and support ya in the hobby.
