Radio Wiring Help Asap

A girl at my work has a 90 (I think) s10 pickup. I was going to look at her cig lighter wiring and see if I could get it to work for her. She pulled the radio and center section out. I looked at the wiring without disconnecting any of it. just looked at the lighter wires. Someone tapped the ground (I think, its black) for the lighter off the radio. There is another wire connected to the lighter assm. I told her I could fix it tomorrow for her. She put the radio back in and the cover on and it didn't work. I didn't mess with the wiring at all. Just looked at it. The radio (pioneer cd) will flash on and off but will not play or even eject the cd (what she told me). I am guessing it is a loose ground or possitive wire. Anyone know what color the power wire is generally? I can only thing that it is a loose wire. Anything else it could be? Please help ASAP. Thanks, John

the main power wires on most stereos are (red which is the main power)
And (yellow which is accessory power usually) Other than that make sure to check fuses, and make sure the wires are all hooked up well.

Find the wiring diagram somwhere online for the specific head unit and find out what need to plug into what from the car. In order to make it work Power should usually be red and ground is usually black.

Try finding a different power/ground wires in the car. I would try and tap into the existing harness for the stock deck, AND what you should do is just buy an adapter for the new head unit to plug right into the stock decks harness. OR if you dont know what your doing then dont mess with the wires, becuase if you dont make it work the girl wont like you

No, I have replaced a deck before but she pulled it out of the dash and it doesn't work anymore. I am guessing there is a loose power or ground wire but I will look at it tomorrow. She didn't even remove the harness or unclip anything. The lighter looks like it was tapped off the radio ground though. My main concern is getting her deck to work. I can re-wire the lighter if I have to.

she prolly just pulle some connection apart, just make sure all the wiring is good and secure.. itll prolly work then

Sounds like a ghetto hack job install.
Depending if the pioneer is older than dirt (6 years old) these are the wire colors for the deck.
Red-ACCY
Yellow-Memory
Black-Ground
Blue-Ant turn on
White-Front Left +
White/blk-FL-
Grey-Front Right+
Grey/blk Front Right-
Green-Rear left+
Green/Black-RL-
Purple-Rear Right+
Purple/Blk-RR-

Now the power wire colors for the truck, im assuming the hack cut the plugs off,
Accecory-Yellow
Constant Memory- Orange
Ground- Black.
The Cig lighter prolly has an orange and black wire on the plug, for constant and ground.

Thanks. Her father did the install for her and it is a hack job. Thanks for the wiring colors. They appear to be correct if I remember. I was only going to fix the lighter and I have to fix her radio too. This sucks.
