Re: My project= 1992 tsi
This weekend I'm hoping. It's been an asston of work fixing the stuff that shouldn't be broken. It's pretty ridiculous actually. I couldve had it done today but my friend set the timing a bit off and we didn't realize till I had pretty much finished up. A couple hours on saturday and it should be done. Oh and I need a new o2 sensor if anyone has got one lying around.

Re: My project= 1992 tsi
So another quick update, and yet another set back.
Got it all buttoned up this morning, checked timing, filled with fluids and it was the time for the moment of truth. Sat in it, turned the key and she popped off. The only problem was....ROD KNOCk!!!!! So yep, after all the time spent, I come to find out the lower end is shot. Needless to say I'm quite upset over the whole ordeal. Pretty fed up with this hunk o junk that I bought. So back to square one, going to get a motor and swap it in, and hope for the best next time around.

Are you sure it's rod knock?
This is one of those times when you want to kill yourself; when the car finally runs, you will be so happy.

Re: My project= 1992 tsi
Almost 100% positive it's rod knock, timing was dead on, no noise from the tranny, it's a lower end knock. I'm almost at the point where I'm done with it. Just sell it to someone with the time of the day to fix it. I have time, but my patience with this car is nearing it's end. Plus for the money I paid for it, I haven't even gotten to put 25 miles on the car. And this all couldve been avoided if there wasn't shotty work done by the previous owner.

Re: My project= 1992 tsi
SO heres the head damage, if I deciede to continue with the project, then I will get some lower end pics up when I get it tore down.

Those are some bent valves, all on the exhaust side

There was a broken valve sitting inside of the cylinder did some good piston denting as well.

And theres the other 3 pistons.

OH and theres were the valve came from, it knocked the spark plug up as well, and stripped it out pretty bad.

No I haven't picked up an o2 sensor yet, I'm grabbing a new one from my pops on Monday. I bought this from goatblower (Steve) a member on this site.

Yea you're not the first person to say that...lol. I may tear her down this week depending on what the weather is like. If I get a good offer on the rolling shell, then I may just ditch it and put a nice down payment on the cbr Ive always wanted
