Yea makes sense now that I think about it. I just can't wait to get her back and start finding some parts.

It didn't hurt the timing belt did it? If not, you got lucky!

Re: My project= 1992 tsi
From what I have heard, that's pretty much the same deal. I think u-pull has a couple maroon 1gb's, so I will have to make a trip for some pieces as soon as I get it back.

Re: My project= 1992 tsi
Well, got it done, it was a bolt that fell down in there and chewed up the BS belt, only made a few small nicks on the outside of the timing belt, no big deal. It still makes the noise, albeit it much less, and only on decel. Driving it, it's perfectly fine. I'm stumped on this one. Shane?

Re: My project= 1992 tsi
Its still making noise? Is it as loud as it was the other day? Hmm
edit:could it possibly be the rear balance shaft that is actually creating the noise now? I have heard when they go out, they can make some noise. It looked as if the last time I drove it, that there was no oil pressure problems or anything so idk....I'm at a loss.

Re: My project= 1992 tsi
It's a lot quieter now, only noticeable on decel in gear. Oil pressure is fine, and it runs great, so I'm not sure at this point, this isn't something I've seen before, and that's a rarity with these cars.

Re: My project= 1992 tsi
Thats weird, when you rev in nuetral, does it make the noise still? Give me a holler tomorrow. If you're at the shop, I'd like to stop by and see it.

Re: My project= 1992 tsi
Remove that BS crap and turn the hydro tensioner into a manual, then inspect the stock crankpulley for separation between the dampener.

Yea I saw the timing belt before I left, just a little line on it, not nearly as bad as that.

It's not the dampener.

Re: My project= 1992 tsi
So....I picked the car up, was heading home, the noise was only happening when the car was creating vacuum or towards the top of 1st. As I was driving it home, it started to bog down, then died. It won't start now, its definately getting fuel, I can smell it, but I don't think its getting spark....I'm just gonna wait untill tomorrow and putz around with it.
