Re: Head Games: pushing coolant and then...
I bought the Jay racing one when I did my cam install, and used it again when I did my headgasket, It worked flawlessly both times. I think Mark has used it a couple times as well.

Re: Head Games: pushing coolant and then...
Well well, quick update!
Yesterday before finalizing putting it together, I tapped the intake manifold for 3/8 NTP. This will fit a GM IAT sensor (new ecu hack coming ) Filled it with a plug for now:
I also got the block uber clean with a 3M drill/die grinder attachment, some cut-up fine grey 3M pads and even though I *really* didn't want to, I used some 600 grit wet/dry sand paper to get the last of the gasket material off. It came out pretty good:
Bottom of head, resurfaced, assembled, and ready to go on:
Buttoned up all of the timing stuff and finalized 99% of the details, left a few for tomorrow, but VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM test drive around my neighborhood with a few short 2nd and 3rd rips, got back with no drips, and put her to sleep:
Tomorrow night, full test drive, logging, etc.

Re: Head Games: pushing coolant and then...
I'd do another oil change in short order unless you did an uber good job of plugging off and cleaning out all the oil drains.
Good to hear it's out on the streets again!

Re: Head Games: pushing coolant and then...
Ooh thanks Ryan! I forgot to mention that! I drained the oil after I got all of the cleaning done and got a $12 jug of oil from o'reily's and put that in for the initial startup. The kelfords advise 18 minute break-in at ~2500rpms, and with dino oil if possible. I did just that, and after I shut it down I drained the oil right away, took off the filter, and let it drain for a good hour. Then, fresh filter and mobil 1 and the it seemed very very happy.

Re: Head Games: pushing coolant and then...
If it idles anything like the way your 280's idled, I'll love them. Hopefully they make more power for you

Re: Head Games: pushing coolant and then...
"Indeed, at about $100,000, nothing can touch the M6 in terms of all-out performance and four-seat capability" -Edmunds.com
Heh, well I was planning on taking it easy on the car but an opportunity to play with an M6 arose today and I decided it was ready. I have turned the boost back up to 29 peak, and left the timing down 4-5* from my E85 tune I was on before. AFR's in the mid 11's.
The guy in the M6 was shocked how I stayed so close to him (no honk, he kept just getting the jump....closed course, of course ). Needless to say the car is running like a freaking top. I had just tested out some 8000rpm pulls to see how it took it, and it took it like a champ. Power is still falling off up top, but I think it feels better than it did before, which was my goal. A little timing and then a trip to the dyno and I'll know for sure.
Also, I got video of the Idle. These are the exact settings I had on from my HKS 280's. In the vid it starts idling a bit high, then falls down to ~900-950 rpms. Def needs some tweaking, but you get the idea!
Also, finished up the quasi-wire tuck last night. No more wires going over the top of the valvecover except for the spark stuff
Next up, winter wheels, snow tires, and a bishin undertray

Re: Head Games: pushing coolant and then...
It sounds a little choppier than it did with the 280's, but I'm sure it'll idle a little better with a little work. Sounds nice though! I'm glad to hear it's up and running so well

Play with your BISS screw just a turn or two, might help.
