Re: Coil on plug

Yea I can see your point. I was planning on doing an MSD CDI since I can get it pretty cheap from my pops. Now it's all up in the air since I may wanna buy CVD's TT stealth...ugh so many decisions...haha.

The only benefit is no spark plug wires and it makes the engine look a little cleaner, unless do you it half assed with sheet metal. They are still running wasted spark (where the spark fires on 2 cylinders at a time) and the spark is the same as if you are only running 2 coils (stock).

Now if you want the real advantage, get a MSD or AEM CDI box and wire the coils individually. Then you will see a stronger spark. Even the stock coils with a CDI box will be better than a COP setup without a CDI box.

Dustin, I'm willing to bet that the reason you saw an improvement is because you had shitty wires, coil pack, plugs, or all of the above.

Now in some peoples cases that have a SMIM, no place to mount the coil pack and dont want the wires, sure... It makes it look better, but thats about it.

For the normal person that does this, its not going to cost you $50, unless you cut a piece of sheet metal with a dremel and half ass it together. I personally would never put the setup in that link on my car. Just looks like shit. I'd much rather machine a plate or buy a JM Fab plate for $80 like I did here, although I have an AEM CDI box to control it...
Pretty much, yeah. I'm just saying it is better than the stock wires with the stock coils. To most, my setup might look pretty ghetto, but I like it. Works great and looks great.

Re: Coil on plug

Do we really need to have this same thread every month with the same questions and the same answers? Its a personal preference item. Ive ordered a nice COP plate and ive made one and they both have looked great, i painted them of course and didnt leave them bare
