Which GPS navigator?
I'm planning on purchasing a gps navigation gadget pretty soon. I am stuck on either buying the TomTom One 3rd Edition or the Garmin Nuvu 200. Both of them are around the price range that I'm willing to spend money on. The only thing that is keeping me away from the Garmin is that some of their maps are like a older version (v.8), and to upgrade to (v.9) will be an additional $70 to upgrade. However, I'll be calling Garmin tomorrow during normal business hours to see if some of the later models of Garmin 200 came with the new version maps.
Any of you guys with personal experience with these navigators got a recommendation for which brand or product to go with instead?

Re: Which GPS navigator?
Never used a tomtom, but the ex had a Nuvu and that thing was sweet. Super easy to use right out the box and its directions are really good to follow, it made me lazy for a litttle bit

There is a best buy coupon attached in that thread for $50 off the nuvu one. Office depot sells em for $129.99 plus the $50 off puts you at $79.99. I think office depot is still accepting up to 3 ink cartridges for $3 off each. If you need some empty non working cartridges lmk and I'll just give you a few and you'll save another $9 on top of that. That's a flippin brand spankin new nuvu for like $70! I'ma go pick one up today!
edit: Here's the bb coupon for $50 off

Re: Which GPS navigator?
My coworker has a TomTom and loves it, but the British voice is annoying as hell and you can tell it was primarily designed for use in Europe. I'd probably get the Garmin.

Re: Which GPS navigator?
Tomtom owns the Garmin. My brother in law has the Garmin and my dad has a Tomtom. The Tomtom get WAY better reception than the Garmin, it isn't even remotely close. The Garmin will have one satellite and the Tomtom will be locked into 7. You can also get different voices on the Tomtom. We are going to get one soon and it will be a Tomtom.

Re: Which GPS navigator?
My Garmin was one of my favorite investments, its nice for directions, but if a road is closed or something in an area you need to get through, it'll tell you where to go.
definitly prevents headaches

Re: Which GPS navigator?
I actually have a Sony GPS for sale if you're interested. It's the NVu70. Here's a review on it http://reviews.cnet.com/car-gps-navi...-31637430.html.
It's been great for me, it's pretty much a first time buyer's GPS. The only thing I wish it had was traffic info, but it's not a big deal.

Re: Which GPS navigator?
One thing I don't like already about the GPS. When you try to just type in Maple Grove, Blaine, Plymouth, Albertville, it doesn't recognize any of those as being cities in MN.

Re: Which GPS navigator?
I have no clue, I just plugged it in for the first time an hour ago. Say that you're in Plymouth, someone calls you and says "MEET US AT MAJORS IN BLAINE". So you go to "points of interest, food, american" and then you hit NEAR. You then type in Blaine, and it gives you Blaine in all sorts of other states except MN. So you end up having to just search for Majors, and sift through all of them until you reach the Blaine one. Kind of retarded I think.

Re: Which GPS navigator?
Can you type in Blaine, MN? You'd think it would automatically know where you are and give results based on that.
