Birmingham 2008 Heli fun fly

Ok this is just a really funny video. That I have to share. So a while back I posted a video of Jason krause hanging his Trex on a garage door.

Well at the Comfort Inn Bobby Watts, and Nick Maxwell were having fun with the New Gaui 200 (thing is about the size of you hand) that were given to them for free at the event. Check out the wall action,

http://youtube.com/watch?v=h9vx_Rw1cfI&FMT=18

And if anyone is interested this heli goes for $180 with motor and speed controller. I'm getting one so I can fly in my bedroom.

These are fully 3D capable. Which shocked the hell out of me. Watching Bobby and Nick to piro Flips, and Piro Funnels with these things.

Pretty cool, $180 is more like what I'd spend on one of these, rather than thousands.

That's just the heli itself, you'll still need a radio with servos and a receiver. I just picked up a brand new 7 channel Futaba PCM radio (not the newest spread spectrum technology, still uses a channel crystal) for $250 shipped. I plan on using this for a new heli and the two planes I have sitting in the garage.

I've found ready to fly helis with everything but a transmitter for anywhere from $300 to $500, can usually get one with a transmitter for around $700. Spending thousands of dollars on a heli, especially your first one, is an exaggeration.

Very cool! I sent the video to my dad. He has a 3D chopper now, but doesn't have enough room to do much more than hover in the winter time.

Probably a dumb question, but are these the same as the Heli's they had on Rob & Big on MTV? They bought a shit-ton of them and couldn't fly them what-so-ever.

This video makes you think you can go buy one and do the same moves, but I'm sure it takes years to get these skills, good flying. This stuff is actually pretty damn amazing.

If anyone wants a cheaper version, the Walkera #52 is about the same size. I am sure the quality isn't as high, but that is to be expected.

The Esky Honey Bee II is a great starter. Cheap and has lots of parts available if you crash it. I have one, as does my dad. He has now moved on to a collective pitch, but still likes to fly the HB.

$85 ready to rock! http://www.xheli.com/new20esho4ra.html

Re: Birmingham 2008 Heli fun fly

If you order parts, bphobbies.com seems to be the cheapest. They made a LiPo version of the Honey Bee, but I am not seeing it anymore. That is what my dad has. If you decide to change, it is easy to change over from the Nimh one. The Nimh batterys take a beating better too, but don't have the capacity of a LiPo.
